Are You Truly Free or Are You Only Told That You Are?
ARE YOU TRULY FREE OR ARE YOU ONLY TOLD THAT YOU ARE?
Description: Four frames. A man is tied to a microphone cord. The man speaking into the mic is telling him that he is more and more free as the cord gets longer. But the man is always attached to the microphone cord.
There is such a thing as fake freedom: a freedom that is assigned to us.
We can think we are free when, in fact, the freedom we think we are experiencing is totally dictated by others.
We can think we are free when actually we are controlled.
As long as we live within the "existing frame of possibilities" (Žižek), we will never know what true freedom is.
The cord must be cut.
And they will never do it.
