Is There Life After Church?

What if the Grass Really IS Greener? Cartoon by nakedpastor David Hayward

I left the ministry in 2010. And the church. I visit a good one now and then.

My first Sunday not going to church was weird. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day. I smoked a nice cigar. I went for a nice walk.

I loved the freedom and the laziness of that morning.

It took me a while to get used to it.

It began to dawn on me: this is awesome, and I absolutely love my Sunday mornings now.

I absolutely love my life post-church.

All the warnings about leaving the church were false.

I don't need a covering.
I don't need a teacher.
I don't need protection.
I don't need authority.
I don't need to separate myself from unbelievers.
I don't need to pay tithes.
I don't need approval.

Sure, there are benefits to being part of a flock... things like community,
support, friendship.

But, with desire, effort, and work, you can build these things outside the fold.

I did.
You can too!
