A man is trying to squeeze God into the Bible, saying, "Come on God! You just HAVE to fit in there!" IS YOUR GOD SMALLER THAN YOUR BIBLE? Some will have a problem with this cartoon because they'll insist we only know about God from the Bible. This cartoon won't make sense to them. The Bible can be compared to a finger that's attempting to point at something. This something is the writers' ideas of God, which is not singular but profoundly diverse. Too many are obsessed with the finger rather than what it's attempting to pointing at.

I'm surprised I still have the original drawing of this cartoon. And prints! I went to a pride parade with a church in Dallas several years ago. One of the most profound experiences I've ever had.  Love is real!

Happy #InternationalCoffeeDay I wonder what would have happened if God had had his coffee first. On a more serious note: It's important to remember that our gods are projections of our minds.  The more brutal we are, the more brutal will be our gods.  The more loving we are, the more loving will be our gods. The flood myth, popular during that age and across that region, is the creation of people who believed the only way to cleanse a wicked world and make it a better place was to kill everyone in it.  Some still believe that.  I don't.

God at the Gay Pride Parade I attended a gay pride parade some years ago in Dallas, Texas, and I must say it was one of the happiest and most remarkable events I’ve ever attended. Almost all of the people I know who are so vehemently opposed to LGBTQ have no LGBTQ friends or acquaintances. Do you know what first started challenging my theology about gays? "The Rainbow Around God's Throne" cartoon by nakedpastor David Hayward For the church and for believers, words like "include", "welcome", and "accept", etcetera, in reference to the LGBTQ community are problematic because it presumes the ones who use them are already inside and hold the power to determine who can enter and join them.
