What Apple CEO Tim Cook's coming out did for my friends

I loved it when Jennifer Knapp
came out. I rejoiced when Vicky Beeching
Why? Because the risk they took to be who they are inspires others to do the same. Not just sexually, but in so many other ways. It reminds us that living free takes courage, and that this courage is accessible and doable.
Even to come out as an advocate for LGBTQ people is a risk for some!
Here's another inspirational story...
Apple CEO Tim Cook came out
In Bloomberg Businessweek
, he wrote
"Let me be clear: I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me..."
He tried to maintain "a basic level of privacy". However, he continued...
"...I don't consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I've benefited from the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it's worth the trade-off with my own privacy."
I know from some of my friends that this was indeed a good trade-off.
Thanks Tim Cook!
