Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I drew this Black Lives Matter cartoon when we had a march here where I live. We marched AND we wore masks. Because we care about people. Yes, I drew Jesus as a person of color. Yes, I drew Jesus wearing a mask. Yes, I drew Jesus marching with a Black Lives Matter sign. Because it’s in the spirit of Jesus to care about justice. It’s in the spirit of Jesus to imagine, struggle for, and create something new. I think it’s in the spirit of Jesus to want and work for a...

People are standing naked while their clothes are being raptured up into heaven. Reverse rapture: when your clothes are taken but you are not. I make fun of this theology because it was used to scare me shitless as a teenager. You've seen my cartoon (that's on mugs and tees, etc.) called "Left Behind". We sometimes lack the tools to know if we’re being abused or not. We’ve been trained to accept our mistreatment as normal, necessary, and good for us. It’s never normal. It’s never necessary, and it’s never good for us. So, if you’re not sure you’re being abused, ask yourself these four questions. YOUR MIND: “Am I confused about what’s happening?” This is about being in control of...

HOW TO SPOT SUBTLE SPIRITUAL ABUSE Religious PTSD is real. Spiritual abuse is a thing. Some think abuse is just violent treatment of another person. But when people’s freedoms are restricted or violated, this is a subtle form of abuse. It’s violence against the human spirit. Like this cartoon, spiritual abusers don't tape people's mouths, cuff their wrists, shackle their feet, put them on a leash, or set them in a cage. Not literally. But they might silence people, restrict their movements, prevent their freedom, limit their involvement, and control their lives. Here are subtle forms of abuse: You are...
