When I was deconstructing, those around me were very confused.
I can't blame them because I was too.
Its impossible for most people to reject your beliefs without making you feel like they're rejecting you.
Deconstruction... the changing of life-long hard-held beliefs... the loss of faith... these are confusing processes.
We don't know how to describe it because we haven't acquired a language for it yet.
They know exactly how to describe it because they are still in our previous religious culture that offers a whole list of explanations.
One of the most obvious ones is that we are being tempted and lead away by Satan.
We might feel we are being carried into the mysterious unknown, but we can no longer call it evil.
But it is terrifying nonetheless, no matter what explanation you prefer.
